Last week we had our training on the embroidery machines we purchased. Ed came over from Lafayette for this. He'd been to our house a few weeks ago to fix one of the machines when it froze on us. We opted to have the trainer come to our house and train us on our machines rather than go to the Melco facilities in Atlanta. This way, Ed could cover what we wanted to learn, take longer on parts we needed more help with and gloss over those we were familiar with. I had him teach me as much as he could in the allotted time about digitizing as well. I learned a lot and am now practising to try to retain it all.
The weather has been hot and humid here. We went to the nursery on Saturday to get some more plants for the yard. We got a bunch of azaleas for the side yard and some caladiums and dwarf gardenias for the front. It will be lovely to get through with all the planting. But it will be a while before that happens.
Maybe I'll have photos next time. If we do something more exciting than embroidery classes...

A New Post
I know, I know. I haven't been very good at this blogging thing. So I decided that maybe I can keep up and not feel too pressured if I have a goal of 1 entry per week. Another difficulty is lack of material. We lead fairly boring lives and don't have a lot to write about. But then I realized that our friends would like to know what we do any way. So, here's my entry for this week.
We found out Lady likes plain yogurt. I gave her my container to lick one afternoon and, as you can see, she got into it...

As I mentioned last time, we have started an embroidery business. Here is the logo which I designed and created. I've also learned how to digitize it. Tom has sewn it onto all his shirts which had nothing on the left chest. Our son is going to be our webmaster. We hope to have our website: deepsouthembroidery.com up and running before too long.

This is our workroom. We are having our official training take place this week. We decided to have a trainer come to our house and train us on our machines instead of going to Atlanta. This way we can have him answer our questions and we can pick his brain and expertise on what we need to know.

And this is Tom's space. He works here on his Primerica stuff and pricing for Deep South Embroidery. He's had to work hard lately because I did the first estimate for a local bank's casual Friday wear. And used the wrong figure. So Tom has had to put in overtime to make sure we don't have to pay them to embroidery their shirts! We agreed that he will do all the quotes from now on...
